AIR TRAVEL TIPS & INFORMATION
Should I lock my luggage?
In some cases, the TSA will have to open your baggage as part of the screening process. If your bag is unlocked, then TSA will simply open the bag and screen the bag. However, if the bag is locked and TSA needs to open your bag, then they will break the lock to obtain entry. Therefore, TSA suggests that you help prevent the need to break your locks by keeping your bag unlocked and carrying your valuables in your carry on luggage.

You can also use standard cable ties to secure your luggage if you have zippers. The cable ties will be cut if TSA needs to open your baggage and they will replace them will color coded ties that let you know they were accessed by the TSA security. Hopefully, in the near future, TSA will provide seals at the airport to secure your luggage as an alternative to locking your bags.
Packing Tips
Due to the sensitivity of the newest screening machines, you should not put film in your checked baggage as the equipment will damage it.
Consider putting personal belongings in clear plastic bags to reduce the chance that the TSA screeners will handle them. Pack shoes, boots, sneakers, and other footwear on top of other contents or in side pockets of luggage.
Avoid over packing your bags so that the screener can easily close and reseal your baggage if it is opened for inspection. If possible spread your contents over several bags and check with the airline or your travel consultant for the maximum weight and number of bags restrictions.
Avoid packing food and drink items in your checked baggage. And don't stack piles of books or documents on top of each other. Make sure you spread them within your baggage.
